Coming from Minion
MacMinion replaces the Java Minion app on the Mac, and picks up where it left off.
Minion is made by MMOUI, who also run ESOUI. MacMinion is an unofficial, independent app built on their work: the ESOUI catalog feeds, Minion's backup format, and Minion's look all come from them. It is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by MMOUI or ESOUI.
What it imports
On first launch MacMinion reads Minion's settings file, ~/.minion/minion.xml, once:
- Installed addons and their versions, so updates are tracked from day one.
- Your AddOns folder.
- Minion's auto-update log, which becomes the start of your update history and charts.
- Where Minion keeps backups, so both apps share them (see Backups).
Minion's files are never changed. Settings > General > Import from Minion reads them again.
Switching
- In Minion, turn off auto-update so the two apps don't both write to AddOns.
- Open MacMinion and check Installed matches what you expect.
- When you're happy, quit Minion. You can keep it installed; nothing depends on it.
What's different
- Native: no bundled Java, a Mac window, menu bar item, and Settings.
- Thumbs up and down, filters, version choice, and an Overview with history and suggestions.
- Optional AI: changelog summaries, suggestions, and search.
- A command line for scripts and AI agents.
- ESO only: no World of Warcraft catalog, no account, and no cloud backup or SavedVariables sync.
