Backups

Your SavedVariables, settings files, and addon list, in Minion's own format and folder, so either app can restore the other's backups.

What a backup holds

Back up from the Backups page or with ⌘B. MacMinion also backs up on its own every week by default, keeping the newest 10; older ones go to the Trash.

Minion's format

<folder>/minion-backups/ESO-1/2026-10-28.zip settings and SavedVariables
<folder>/minion-backups/ESO-1/2026-10-28-addons.txt "7,57,1360,"
<folder>/initial-backup/ESO-1.zip Minion's first backup: the whole AddOns folder

The folder is Minion's (~/.minion unless you changed it in Minion), and the game name is Minion's (ESO-1). MacMinion reads both from Minion's settings. One backup per day: a second one the same day replaces it, as in Minion.

Restore

Choose Restore… on a backup and pick what to bring back:

Before a restore changes anything, MacMinion backs up what you have now to ~/Library/Application Support/MacMinion/restore-safety, so a restore can be undone.

Quit the game first: it writes SavedVariables when it quits and would undo the restore. MacMinion warns you if it's running.

A backup made on another Mac, by another user, or on the PTS restores into your current game folder.

Settings

In Settings > Backups: the folder (Use Minion's Folder or Choose…), the game name, how often to back up (never, daily, weekly), and how many to keep.
